From November 14, 2026, the Swift network will no longer support unstructured postal addresses in cross-border payment messages. Payments containing only free-text address data will be rejected by the network, halting messaging flows instantly.
What is Changing?
Going forward, address details must be either fully structured or follow the hybrid format. At a minimum, every message is required to isolate two mandatory structured fields:
Town Name (<TwnNm>)
Country Code (<Ctry>) — Must be the 2-letter ISO code.
